Decorative flake
What the chips actually do
The color in a flake floor comes from vinyl chips — thin, rigid pieces of water-based resin pigmented the whole way through instead of printed on the face. We broadcast them into the wet base coat by hand, so no two slabs land quite the same. They come in 1/16", 1/8" and 1/4", and the size changes the look as much as the color does.
Because the pigment runs through the chip, it can't wear off the high spots or bleach out in the strip of floor that catches sun under the garage door. The blend also breaks the surface up visually, which is the practical argument for it: flake hides tire dust, red clay and the honest imperfections in a slab that a solid color would put a spotlight on.
Every blend on this page is one we can order and install. Screens lie about color, though — your monitor, your phone and your garage lighting will each shift it. Use this as a shortlist, then we'll bring physical sample boards to the estimate so you can see the real thing on your own floor.

Signature Blends
The core lineup, running from warm tans and browns through the cool greys most people end up wanting in a garage. These are the blends we install week to week and keep sample boards for in the truck.
Marble Blends
High-contrast blends that set bright flakes against a dark base for a marbled, terrazzo-like read. They look their best across a wide open floor — a basement, showroom or shop — where the pattern has room to move.
Chip size
Size changes the floor as much as color does
The same blend reads completely differently at 1/16" than it does at 1/4". Bigger chips mean more pattern, more texture and more grip; smaller chips mean a tighter, quieter surface.
1/16" Chip
Fine and almost sandy up close, the nearest thing to a quartz or terrazzo look. The subtlest texture of the three, which suits interior rooms and smaller spaces.
1/8" Chip
The one most people land on. Enough movement to hide dirt and slab repairs without shouting, and comfortable barefoot once the top coat is on.
1/4" Chip
Big flakes, obvious pattern and the most grip underfoot. What we reach for in working garages, shops and anywhere that regularly gets wet.
Why flake
What you get out of it
- Pigment runs through the chip, so color can't wear or fade off the surface
- UV-stable under a sunlit garage door or an exposed patio
- Random flake shapes camouflage crack repairs, patches and trowel marks
- Adds real underfoot texture and noticeably better wet traction
- Hides tire dust, red clay and pollen between cleanings
- Costs less than a metallic or ground terrazzo finish
- Mops clean with plain water — no waxing, buffing or resealing
- Blends can be mixed to chase a specific color or match cabinetry
- Damage can be patched in place instead of recoating the whole floor
